Portrait of My Grandfather

Not a real commission. My mother asked me to do it (although arguably that is the most real of commissions.) A few years ago I did a series of portraits of her father as Christmas gifts for her and…

Robert Greene is my Favorite Author

The cookie cutter description of Robert Greene is a successful author, speaker, and strategist known for his best-selling books on strategy, power, and personal development. They mention that his books have been translated into more than 30 languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide.

In his own words he had failed so many times in different careers before he wrote “The 48 Laws of Power” in 1998. He would go on to write some of the most pre-eminent books in this area of psychology and human performance. He has also written several other successful books on topics such as strategy, power, and personal development.

Greene is successful because he has a unique perspective on strategy and power dynamics that resonates with readers. His books are well-researched and offer practical advice and insights that people can apply in their own lives. Additionally, Greene is an awesome communicator and has been able to effectively market his books and ideas to a wide audience.

His success may also be due to his ability to identify and write about universal themes that are of interest to most humans. His books often explore human nature, power dynamics, and the ways in which people can achieve success and fulfillment. These are timeless themes that appeal to readers across a wide range of ages and cultures.

Overall, Greene’s success is likely the result of a combination of his unique perspective, writing ability, and marketing skills, as well as his ability to identify and write about universal themes that resonate with readers.

Any one of these pieces of work has the potential to change your life or in the very least how you think about yourself, what is important to you, and how you can achieve. Yep sounds cheesy AF, but it is cold hard truth.

Behind The Laws of Human Nature, the 50th Law is my second favorite piece of work. The idea of fearlessness being the path to achievement is one of those fundamental truths that hits you right in the guts, but is a critical reminder. There are no short cuts. Greene’s work constantly reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Artist, Chuck Close:-

I hope whether from above, or via another route you decide to pick up one Greene’s pieces of work. You will derive positively asymmetrical return on investment in terms of knowledge > cost.
