Album covers with eagles

In rock music there are many «totems». It is not only popular rhymes like «love ‒ blood», but also the images that adorn the cover of every second rock album.

«We soar high and see far!»‒ probably, such considerations were guided by these performers when they made a choice in favor of a picture with an eagle.

On the Border is the third studio album by American rock group the Eagles, released in 1974. This is the first album by the Eagles to be released in Quadraphonic surround sound. A hidden message carved into the run out groove of some vinyl LPs reads: “He who hesitates is lunch”.

«The Seer» is the third studio album by the Scottish band «Big Country», released in 1986. The album featured very traditional Scottish musical settings, reminiscent of the band’s debut album “The Crossing”.

Album cover adorned with a mighty eagle bearing a sword as drawn by a Venice Beach tattoo artist. That album had some killer moments but felt like the work of a band in the midst of an identity crisis. Sword Songs has its fair share of saving graces, however, featuring more versatile riffing than most Grand Magus albums.

«The Hawk Is Howling» is ultimately listenable, understandable, and vaguely likable. Like the songs that shape it, though, the album just feels redundant and tenuous, like the last empty cloud trailing behind a fierce storm.

«Trench» is a concept album which explores mental health, suicide and doubt, themes featured in the band’s previous works, framed in the metaphorical city of Dema and the surrounding valley known as “Trench”. The album is also the first release of the newly revived Elektra Music Group.

«Fallen Empires» is the sixth studio album by Northern Irish-Scottish rock band «Snow Patrol». This album comes freighted with the weight of Gary Lightbody’s emotional turmoil. As he observes late on in the album, “I’ve crashed to earth, but I’ve fallen for so long that it was just relief” — and certainly, at times here one suspects he simply enjoys a damn good wallow in self-pity.

The eagle is the chief over all the winged creatures. Eagle conveys the powers and messages of the spirit; it is man’s connection to the divine because it flies higher than any other bird. In rock music, this is one of the main characters. We can meet eagles very often on the album covers of bands.

The image of the eagle fascinates with its graphics and voltage, which is read immediately. In my opinion, the image of the majestic bird printed on rough paper very accurately conveys the mood of rock music.

The covers are simple, not filled with symbols and details, but due to the image of this brave and strong bird are remembered immediately.

Some pictures due to the muted color and texture seem vintage, as lost color posters. But other covers are made in more modern graphics.
