Easy ways to stimulate creativity

Anyone can be creative with a few easy tools.

There are days where everything is just too difficult to the point that even getting up can be a challenge. Sometimes these days can turn into weeks and you wonder where all that time has gone. I’ve been there, the ‘there’ where I would rather take a nap than be stuck typing up an article or studying that new algorithm or working on that webpage.

Like motivation and memory, creativity is something that anyone can learn from repetition. It may sound counterproductive but if you think of yourself as someone who has no creativity all you need to do is practice the act of being creative. The act itself is something that can be learned and honed into a skill to keep in your arsenal.

Gaming and timing

Gamify your life. The reason why we love to play games is because it’s fun to win. (Being competitive is super cute, right?) Some video games can keep you occupied for hours with side quests and the opportunity to gain new badges or accomplishments. So why not do this for something else?

You want to create a new art project? Try implementing small wins along the way, side quests and ways to beat someone else, since half the fun is beating the main villain of the game in the end. You don’t need to go all Salieri from Amadeus on us here, but having someone to keep you motivated may unlock something in your hippocampus that keeps you trying out new strategies.
