I Want More Despite Already Having So Much

Do you think I’m being selfish?

I have the house I want; I want the money to be able to pay the mortgage comfortably every month.

I have a wonderful husband; I want to be able to buy him the cowboy boots he wants for Christmas.

I have a beautiful backyard with woods; I want to be able to cut down the dead trees so that new ones can grow.

I have two beautiful grown children; I want the closeness I used to have with them when they needed me for hugs and a lap to sit on.

I have wonderful pets — 3 dogs and two cats: I want the money to be able to take them to the vet and groomer whenever they need to go. I want one more dog — a Norwich or Border terrier — even a mixed breed that just looks like one of those.

I want enough money — not an enormous amount — just enough to take care of my husband’s cataract surgery and veneers, plant more trees, get that ceiling fan for the kitchen, have a little nest egg, and take a vacation.

I want the pandemic over, so we can feel free to go where we want again without worry.

I want the infrastructure bill to pass. I want the Build America Better bill to pass. I want raises in Social Security and taxes on billionaires and millionaires and corporations that have so much money, leaving so little for the rest of us.

I want all the climate repair bills to go into effect immediately so that we don’t kill ourselves with all our pollution of the air, water, and soil.

I want true justice in the world, where all people are treated fairly, where the laws are the same for everyone, so the underdogs don’t get punished while the real criminals go free.

I want all the hatred and stupidity in the world to disappear, so we can treat each other the way we should be treated, with respect and caring, not prejudice and blame.

I want it all, damn it, and I want it now. I am old. I don’t have a long time left to see it all happen.

I guess I just made my Christmas list. Maybe if I order now, I can get it all in time. Maybe if I order two of everything, I can get shipping for free.
