5 Wonderful Family Movies To Watch Immediately

Being a single mother, these movies were especially great for my sons

I have never been a male nor identified as one. Other than a few nights out while playing pool, that is. Even so, I have still had to play the father role on several occasions. Recently remarried, I now have a husband who is more of a father to my children than their biological dad ever cared to be.

For many years of my children’s lives, I was a single mother to my young children. I am using my experience to list my favorite coming of age movies. These are the ones that my boys, and my girls, all loved. Many single mothers, single dads, and regular old fashioned parents need lists like this and I feel like I have come up with a quality one. My oldest son has already seen all of these movies and my youngest will be forced to watch them with me sooner than he knows.

I like these movies because they are family friendly while also providing a lesson of some kind. Some just reinforce what a family looks like or the value of friendships. The older my kids get, the more I feel the need to sneak these lessons in. This is probably due to the fact that the older they get, the less they listen to me directly. To them, I know less about everything each year.

Even though this is not a normal Stephen King movie, I really enjoyed it anyway. I love Stephen King under any circumstances. This movie is not in his normal horror genre, but he still hit it out of the park. The actual book is not named Stand By Me. It is called The Body, which makes sense if you read the book. I think Stand By Me is a better fit though, especially because the song of the same title.
