Hold The Space. Do Nothing.

June 20th: What would you do if you had unlimited time and no restrictions?

When I first read this prompt, I thought that if I had more time, I would write and spend more time meditating.

But if I said that, I would be lying. I know that from experience — because this past summer, I had the luxury of time and these same goals. I wanted to meditate, write, and do many other things, yet I placed more importance on doing nothing.

If the spirit moved me, I’d go take the kids to the beach, but for the most part, I was just there…holding the space…doing nothing!

I lived in contradiction to my own so-called goals even when I had no time restrictions.

So, why would I want to set the same goals again?!

When I was younger → I wanted to travel the world, make more friends, have more luxuries, get a nice job, car, house — the usual stuff…

Now, I picture having more of these things mentally, BUT nothing quite resonates. I do not want to “achieve” any of these things.

I know that these goals are not my pathway to some kind of ultimate joy or success that I will achieve at the end of my life!

And, for me, 2022 has been about living mindfully.

I have come to realize that when I focus too much on filling up my plate, my hunger goes away, and I do not relish what I have.

Makes sense?

Imagine walking into a buffet with all the best foods in the world. You can eat all you want. Very soon, you will be full and perhaps you will not even like what you have on your plate.

The human brain works like that. At least mine does. As soon as I get the new car, its value decreases, and I want the next thing.
